Biography

Lorraine McGinty has been a lecturer in Computer Science at UCD since 2003. Her primary research interests revolve around the role artificial intelligence can play to help users (and enhance their experiences) as they carry out everyday tasks. Specific researchcommunitiesthat she plays an active role include the Intelligent User Interfacing, Recommender Systems, and Case-Based Reasoning communities. In these areas, to date, she has published more than 70 peer-reviewed papers in internationalconferenceproceedings and journals, three of which have received "best/distinguished paper" awards. In total she has claim to ~€400K in research funding raised over the past 4 years, (as PI, joint PI and collaborator) from various sources (SFI/EI, Industrial, and UCD). Also, within the last four years she has served in several responsibleorganisationalroles (e.g. workshop co-ordinator, doctoral consortium chair, publicity chair, program chair) for premier international conferences in her key research areas.
