Biography
Amalia Zahra comes from Indonesia. She obtained my undergraduate degree (BSc) from Faculty of Computer Science, University of Indonesia in 2008. Then still in the same university, she did a research on Indonesian Speech Recognition System for a year (September 2008 to August 2009). At the moment, she is a PhD student in UCD, just started in September 2009. She is working on speech recognition under MUSTER Group, supervised by Prof. Julie Carson-Berndsen. Her research interests cover speech recognition, language identification of the spoken speech, computational linguistics, machine learning, and information retrieval.

At the moment, I have a plan to develop a language identification of the spoken speech by utilizing several machine translation algorithms and phonetic knowledge. Moreover, I intend to build some monolingual speech recognition system for a particular language. Then, the language identification component and the monolingual speech recognition system are integrated in order to build multilingual speech recognition system. The system in the future is expected to be flexible in term of plugging speech recognition systems of other languages into it.
