Professor Liam Murphy B.E., M.Sc., Ph.D. Liam Murphy received a B.E. in Electrical Engineering from University College Dublin in 1985, & an M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences from the University of California, Berkeley in 1988 and 1992 respectively. He is currently an Associate Professor in Computer Science at University College Dublin, where he is Director of the Performance Engineering Laboratory (http://www.perfenglab.com). Prof. Murphy has published over 100 refereed journal and conference papers on various topics, including multimedia transmissions, dynamic and adaptive resource allocation algorithms, and software development. His current research projects involve mobile and wireless systems, computer network convergence issues, and web services performance issues. He is a director of crovan (http://www.crovan.com), a UCD/DCU campus company spun out of Enterprise Ireland funded research. Prof. Murphy is a Member of the IEEE and a Fellow of the Irish Computer Society.
