CSI Researchers win Best Paper Award at CSMR'2012

Iman Hemati Moghadam and Mel Ó Cinnéide were awarded the Best Paper prize at the European Conference on Software Maintenance and Reengineering (CSMR'2012) for their paper entitled "Automated Refactoring Using Design Differencing." This work shows how the automated refactoring platform Code-Imp, designed and built in UCD CSI, can be used to halt the progression of design erosion. The developer expresses the desired design they wish their program to have, and Code-Imp makes novel use of design differencing in order to refactor the program to its desired design. In experiments on over 150KLOC of open source code the desired design could be achiveved to an average accuracy of 92%.

It also provided the Opportunity for our industry partners to view, first hand, the technical and innovative talent of our students. Twenty six students presented their projects and seventeen companies took a stand at the event.
