Video Conferencing

Note: the IP address of the video conferencing unit is 193.1.132.67


Point-to-point IP videoconference
1. Switch on the Polycom unit and switch on the projector.
2. Select channel 'INPUT 4' on the projector. The Polycom unit's output will be displayed by the projector.
3. Select 'Video call' using the Polycom remote control.
4. Enter the IP address to be calling using the Polycom remote control and press 'CALL-HANG UP', (for an incoming call just wait for and then accept the incoming call instead of calling).
5. The far end will answer, the conference is in session.


Point-to-point phone conference
1. Switch on the Polycom unit and switch on the projector.
2. Connect a phone cable from the telephone socket on the Polycom unit to network socket A-013 which is located on the wall opposite the door. The phone cable is available from Tony OGara.
3. Select channel 'INPUT 4' on the projector. The Polycom unit's output will be displayed by the projector.
4. Select 'Telephone' using the Polycom remote control.
5. Enter the telephone number to be dialled using the Polycom remote control and press 'CALL-HANG UP', (for an incoming call just wait for and then accept the incoming call instead of dialling. The far end needs to dial Dublin phone number 2838052 in order to reach our end).
6. The far end will answer, the conference is in session.


Multipoint IP videoconference
1. Switch on the Polycom unit and switch on the projector.
2. Select channel 'INPUT 4' on the projector. The Polycom unit's output will be displayed by the projector.
3. Select 'Video call' using the Polycom remote control.
4. Enter the number 003530110051122 using the Polycom remote control and press 'CALL-HANG UP', this will connect you to the UCD Virtual Meeting Room. (Also available under ‘Ucd Meetingroom’ in the address book of the Polycom unit).
5. The far end will answer, you are in the UCD VMR.
6. If there are far-end users that are not registered to the global dialling scheme (GDS) they must register using a guest number. To do that they set the Gatekeeper IP address on their unit to 193.1.31.194 and their E.164 number to 0035301103XXXX, where XXXX is the last 4 digits of their regular phone number, (this is to reduce the possibility of duplicate numbers). Then they dial into the conference by dialling GDS number 003530110051122 in full.


Multipoint telephone/videoconference (incoming)
1. Switch on the Polycom unit and switch on the projector.
2. Select channel 'INPUT 4' on the projector. The Polycom unit's output will be displayed by the projector.
3. Select 'Video call' using the Polycom remote control.
4. Enter the number 003530110051122 using the Polycom remote control and press 'CALL-HANG UP', (this will connect you to the UCD virtual meeting room).
5. The far-end will answer, you are in the meeting room.
6. The POTS users must first dial the ISDN Gateway number (01 4490889) using their phones (this is a regular Dublin phone number), and then when prompted, dial the following number in full for the UCD VMR (003530110051122).
7. If there are far-end videoconferencing are not registered to the global dialling scheme (GDS) they must register using a guest number. To do that they set the Gatekeeper IP address on their unit to 193.1.31.194 and their E.164 number to 0035301103XXXX, where XXXX is the last 4 digits of their regular phone number, (this is to reduce the possibility of duplicate numbers). 8. The conference is in session.
 

NOTES:
1. There is no support for CSI hosting of outgoing multipoint telephone conferencing calls where far end is not obliged to dial, far-end users must always dial into either the Polycom unit itself or the UCD VMR.
2. The UCD VMR can host videoconference and telephone calls simultaneously in the same conference, i.e. a user can dial into a videoconference that is being hosted in the UCD VMR using a regular telephone. The telephone users must first dial the ISDN Gateway number (01 4490889) using their phones (this is a regular Dublin phone number), and then when prompted, dial the following number in full to access the UCD VMR (003530110051122).
