Java Software Training Courses
Software Training
Introduction to Java Technology (SCJA)
Java Programming (SCJP)
The UCD School of Computer Science and Informatics (www.csi.ucd.ie) together with UCD campus company crovan is offering training for IT professionals who are currently either unemployed, under threat of redundancy or working in Small or Medium Enterprises (SME) who may not be in a position to avail of commercial training courses. The courses are tailored to allow the candidate to attend UCD mainly in the mornings. Exercises will be provided each day and should be completed in the candidates own time (dedicated exercise sessions are provided for SCJA while limited support is provided for SCJP, as well as on-line support). This is one of a number of initiatives that the School is currently undertaking to participate in the National Recovery Plan along with a taught Masters in Computer Science through Negotiated Learning (www.csi.ucd.ie/mscnl)
There are two main intakes of candidates:
Non-programmers and Programmers (none of the skills need to be in Java)
Non-programmers should attend and complete the UCD Java Associate SCJA (starting To Be Advised) training. This training will enable IT professionals who are non-programmers, to become familiar and proficient with Java systems and technologies and to help to prepare them for the Sun Certified Java Associate (SCJA) qualification. UCD are offering this course with the intention that a candidate who is not familiar with Java would be brought up to the level required of the examination.
Programmers (not necessarily in Java) could attend the UCD Java Associate SCJA training course to learn more about the technologies, and they could attend the UCD Java Programming, Part 1, SCJP (starting To Be Advised) and the UCD Java Programming, Part 2, SCJP (starting To Be Advised) training. The training will enable non-Java programmers to become familiar and proficient with Java and help to prepare them for the Sun Certified Java Programming (SCJP) qualification. UCD are offering these courses, one “Java Programming Part 1 (SCJP)” and the other “Java Programming Part 2 (SCJP)” with the intention that both courses would be taken to bring a developer or programmer either from another programming language into the Java programming language, or to further train a Java programmer.
Location Maps:
All Lectures and Examinations are in the UCD School of Computer Science & Informatics, Lecture Theatre, B0.04, on the ground floor (Building 14 on UCD Map[1]). All the support laboratory sessions will all be held in the Active Learning Laboratory, B1.06 (same building). Information on travelling to UCD is at http://www.ucd.ie/visitors.htm
