Bell Labs and University Partnering

Bell Labs has been in Ireland now for four years.  During that time it has established itself with in the greater Bell Labs community.  Its mission was initially to create research that was of value to Alcatel-Lucent’s supply chain.  This kind of mission required close cooperation between Universities, SMEs and Bell Labs.  The research mission for Bell Labs Ireland is now expanding to not only include its initial mission but also to intentionally create disruptive technologies.  In this talk we will go over the bad and good points of the previous four years and indicate how in our view the method of working with universities can be improved to a point where everyone wins out.
